In early March, we concluded the acquisition of United Materials LLC, a company in the concrete, aggregates (sand, stone and gravel) and building materials segments in the United States. The transaction was carried out through Votorantim Cimentos North America, which consolidates the company’s operations in the United States and Canada.
Founded in 1998, United Materials has approximately 140 employees distributed through its operations: four concrete plants, one aggregates plant and two building materials warehouses. With this acquisition, Votorantim Cimentos is expanding its presence in western New York state, a region that includes the city of Buffalo, where United Materials is based.
We are leaders in building materials supply in the Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada. With around 2,300 employees, Votorantim Cimentos’ arm in North America produces cement, concrete and aggregates (sand, stone and gravel) through St Marys Cement, Canada Building Materials (CBM) and Prairie Material. United Materials was already a business partner of the group through St Marys Cement.
St Marys Cement operates two cement plants in Ontario (Canada), one cement plant in the state of Michigan (USA), distribution centers in the cities of Detroit (Michigan), Badger (Wisconsin) and Dixon (Illinois), and cement distribution terminals in the states of Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, New York and Wisconsin. The acquisition of United Materials complements Votorantim Cimentos’ concrete and aggregate businesses in North America, which have a strong presence in the metropolitan areas of Toronto (Canada) and Chicago (United States).
