Votorantim Cimentos will open a new mortar factory

With a production capacity of 200 thousand metric tons, the unit will be inaugurated in May 2015

In the first half of 2015, Votorantim Cimentos will inaugurate its new mortar production unit in Camaçari, Bahia, with an annual production capacity of 200 thousand metric tons. The company already has a mortar unit in Pecém, in the state of Ceará. With the new operation, VC will step up its regional presence, producing the complete line of Votomassa adherent mortars, particularly worthy of note being the product Votomassa Piso for floors. The new unit will also enable the launch of the Matrix line of industrial mortar in the region, driving productivity gains for construction companies.

The new mortar unit is part of the company’s largest ever investment plan, which began in 2007 and will reach R$ 15 billion by 2018. For the company, greater capillarity and proximity to markets with high consumption potential enables a faster response and higher service levels for customers and consumers, in addition to meeting the needs of the civil construction industry.

The first Votorantim Cimentos unit in the Northeast of Brazil was built in 1942 in the Pernambuco municipality of Paulista. Currently the company has other cement factories in Sobral, Laranjeiras, Paulista, Pecém and São Luís, in addition to aggregates and concrete units.
