All the innovation of our pozzolanic cement and our concrete was presented by Walter Dissinger CEO of Votorantim Cimentos, during th e 4th Annual Meeting of Sustainable Leadership Platform, held on August 6th, in the Federation of Industries of São Paulo’s theater.

Besides Votorantim Cimentos, the event brought together leaders of other big companies, such as Natura, Braskem and 3m. The main topics covered in presentations were: co-creation of products, production processes less socio-environmental impacting and solutions to the green economy demand.

“We have a huge responsibility to minimize the impacts of our production process , since the gas emission is an inevitable reaction to our operation. Therefore, our commitment is to increase the sustainability in our environmental practices , influencing positively the entire industry” , said Dissinger . According to him, this need drove the study that gave rise to pozzolanic cement, a product with differentiated quality and low environmental impact .

Another innovation with a focus on low cost and respect for the environment are the high-strength concrete .Self- compacting concrete : because of its characteristic of not needing to be spread , this product reduces the number of large buildings pillars , expanding the area available in buildings; and Permeable Concrete: suitable for capture and rain water reuse.

“The responsibility of our challenge increases if we think that by 2050 we will have a population of 9 billion people , considering that concrete is one of the most consumed products in the world. Therefore, we must think of the whole chain , focusing on the sustainability of buildings . If we have a longer life for buildings and constructions , we achieve greater efficiency and productivity with less consumption and use of raw materials , “explains Walter.
